The Stone of the Month – Aquamarine

From Ancient times, men and healers have believed that gemstones have mystical powers which affect our physical or emotional well being. Birthstones, or gemstones, and their attributes are related to signs of the Zodiac and months of birth.

The Aquamarine is the traditional birthstone for the month of March. The Aquamarine can usually be found in countries like Brazil, Nigeria, Zambia, Madagascar and Ukraine. The word Aquamarine is derived from the Latin words aqua marina which means sea water, which reflect the color of the crystals. It is a transparent, pale green variety of beryl, traditionally used as a gem.

Social, religious, biblical and Christian symbolism were all reflected in the color blue. The symbolic meaning of the color blue has a Biblical meaning symbolizing heavenly grace. Aquamarine has been used in jewelry for centuries, but modern jewelry is filled with aquamarine gemstones and inspirations.
